Shape Follow Focus Friction Clic - Ffclic
Shape Follow Focus Friction Clic - Ffclic | Added support for handheld video
Without a shoulder rig, handheld video depends on the support you can provide with your body and grip alone. The Shape Follow Focus Friction Clic - Ffclic is a shoulder rig for video work where the camera needs extra support. It suits filmmakers who work handheld and want a rig designed for that way of shooting, rather than a tripod-based setup. Its stated role is straightforward: add support while you’re recording handheld. That can be useful for an interview where you need to hold a consistent position, or when you’re moving with a subject and want support while keeping the camera in hand. It’s a support tool, not a promise of steadier footage in every situation; your stance and how you handle the camera still matter. If handheld video is a regular part of your work, this Shape rig is purpose-made for that job.
Specialist Note
“Is the Ffclic meant for handheld video?” Yes: it’s a shoulder rig, and its stated job is to give the camera extra support during handheld work. I’d consider it for a seated interview, where you can settle into one position, or for a slow follow of a subject; in either case, take a moment to find a stable stance and use both hands to guide the camera. That support is the point here, rather than turning a handheld setup into a tripod. It’ll suit someone who prefers to move or work freely while filming, but it won’t replace careful camera handling. I like how clearly this product is aimed at shoulder-supported video work.
