Sigma Filter 72mm WR Ceramic Protector PTC-21
Sigma Filter 72mm WR Ceramic Protector PTC-21 | A protective layer for your lens
A lens’s front element is exposed to fingerprints, dust and accidental contact during everyday use. The Sigma Filter 72mm WR Ceramic Protector PTC-21 places a separate filter surface in front of it, so the lens itself isn’t the first surface exposed to routine handling. It’s for photographers who want a dedicated protector to leave on their lens while shooting or carrying it, rather than relying on the front element alone. The 72mm size is intended for a lens that takes a 72mm filter; match that size to the lens before choosing it. “WR” and “Ceramic” are part of this model’s name, identifying the version without making broader claims about its performance. Think of it as straightforward front-element protection, not an effect filter: its purpose is to sit in front of the lens and help shield that exposed surface in day-to-day use.
Specialist Note
Does the PTC-21 fit any lens? It’s the right size for a lens that takes a 72mm filter, so that matching measurement is the key when choosing it. I’d consider it for everyday shooting or for keeping on a lens that gets handled and packed often: the filter gives the front of the lens a separate surface in front of it. The ceramic construction is a specific part of this model, though I wouldn’t treat that word as a promise of a particular impact rating. It’s a protector, not a substitute for careful handling, and it won’t shield the rest of the lens.
