Sigma Filter 77mm WR Ceramic Protector PTC-21
Sigma Filter 77mm WR Ceramic Protector PTC-21 | Keep a protective filter in place while shooting
Your lens cap is off, and you want protection in front of the lens while you take pictures. The Sigma Filter 77mm WR Ceramic Protector PTC-21 is a protection filter for that job: it stays in place while the camera is ready to shoot, unlike a cap that has to come off. It suits photographers whose lens has a matching 77mm filter thread and who want a protector fitted during everyday use. The product name identifies this model as WR and Ceramic; its purpose is protection, rather than adding a creative filter effect. The 77mm size is the key detail to match to your lens, since filter sizes aren’t universal. If you have a lens with a 77mm thread and want to keep a protective filter fitted between shots, this Sigma is a focused option.
Specialist Note
The Sigma PTC-21 keeps a protective filter in place while you shoot, where a lens cap would need to come off for each frame. I’d point it out to someone with a 77mm lens thread who wants front-of-lens protection for everyday outdoor photography or family events: match the 77mm size to the lens, then leave it fitted while shooting. The ceramic construction is the material detail that distinguishes this particular protector; I’d choose it for its stated protective role, not for a filter effect. The WR designation is part of the model name, too. One sensible limit: use a lens cap as well when packing your camera away.
