Sirui 40mm T1.8 1.33X S35 AF Anamorphic Lens (X Mount Neutral Flare) | Add widescreen character to Fujifilm X video

Standard footage can feel a little familiar when you want a more cinematic widescreen frame. This anamorphic lens gives Fujifilm X filmmakers a way to shape that look, with a 1.33x squeeze and a neutral-flare finish. It’s an interchangeable autofocus lens for video and filmmaking, suited to creators who want an anamorphic image without giving up autofocus. The estimated angle of view is 39°, giving you a defined field of view to compose around. You’ll need to desqueeze the footage in your editing workflow to restore normal-looking proportions. This is a focused tool for planned video work, from short films to interview-led pieces, where the widescreen treatment is part of the visual approach. Its Fujifilm X mount makes it a natural fit for a compatible Fujifilm X setup.

Specialist Note

Does the Sirui 40mm T1.8 make sense for interview-style filmmaking? Yes, especially if you want a more cinematic frame while keeping autofocus in your workflow. The T1.8 rating gives you useful exposure flexibility in a dim room; for 25 fps, around 1/50 sec is a sensible shutter starting point, then adjust ISO to suit the light. On a Fujifilm X APS-C body, the 40mm framing is roughly equivalent to 60mm on full frame, which works well for a composed, close interview shot. I’d leave enough room to reframe, and plan for desqueezing in post. That extra step is part of working with an anamorphic lens, rather than a shortcut to skip.
