SmallHD Acc-MT-Shoe Hot Shoe Ball Mount
SmallHD Acc-MT-Shoe Hot Shoe Ball Mount | Position an accessory on camera
Without a dedicated place for an accessory, it can end up balanced beside the camera or taking up space on the work surface. The SmallHD Acc-MT-Shoe Hot Shoe Ball Mount is a tripod accessory for adding a mounting point to a camera setup and positioning an accessory where it’s easier to see or reach. It suits camera operators who want a more considered arrangement for a fixed setup, a tabletop demonstration or a desk-based recording. Its appeal is practical: it helps make use of the space around the camera rather than asking you to arrange everything separately. That can make a compact working area feel less cluttered and keep an accessory in a more useful position during a take. Think of it as a focused mounting aid, rather than a tripod or a general support solution. If your setup calls for a simple way to place an accessory on the camera, this SmallHD part is worth considering.
Specialist Note
On a one-camera desk setup, I’d plan the accessory’s position before settling the camera framing. The hot shoe gives you a defined place on the camera for the mount, which is useful when the work surface is already busy. Its ball mount lets you angle the attached accessory toward your working position; for a locked-off talking-head frame, for example, I’d adjust it so a quick glance doesn’t mean turning away from the camera. At a tabletop demo, you could aim it toward the section of the work area you need to keep in view. I see this as a positioning aid, not a tripod substitute. It makes the most sense when the camera’s hot shoe is the place you want to mount an accessory.
