SmallRig 4779 Universal 2 In 1 Hard Drive Clamp
SmallRig 4779 Universal 2 In 1 Hard Drive Clamp | Keep a hard drive with your tripod setup
The defining idea is a clamp for a hard drive, made as a tripod accessory: it gives your drive a place within a tripod-based setup rather than leaving it as a separate item on the work surface. The SmallRig 4779 is aimed at people who want their hard drive close to their working position, whether that’s at a video-editing desk or in a setup where a tripod is already part of the arrangement. Its role is specific: hold a hard drive as part of that setup. The “2 in 1” name suggests a combined-purpose design, while “universal” describes its broad intent. Those terms are useful when narrowing down the kind of accessory you need, but they don’t tell you which drives or tripod arrangements it suits. I’d treat it as a way to bring a hard drive into a tripod accessory setup, not as a reason to assume every drive will fit. If that’s the job you have in mind, this clamp keeps the idea simple.
Specialist Note
At a busy editing desk, a hard drive can end up separated from the tripod-based setup it belongs with. This is where the SmallRig 4779 makes sense: it’s a hard drive clamp, classed as a tripod accessory, so its purpose is to bring those two parts together. I’d consider it for an editing station or a working setup where you want the drive kept with the tripod arrangement; place the drive in the clamp and use it for that role. The 2-in-1 description points to a combined-purpose accessory, while “universal” is a broad label, not proof that every drive or tripod arrangement will fit. I’d choose it for the job, then make sure its fit matches your actual setup.
