Tiffen 127UVP 127mm UV Protector
Tiffen 127UVP 127mm UV Protector | A protective UV filter for your lens
Keep the front of your lens covered during everyday shooting, without adding a complicated step to your setup. The Tiffen 127UVP 127mm UV Protector is a UV filter in a 127mm size, intended for photographers who want a protective layer in front of a lens while keeping it ready to use. It suits a setup where the lens has a matching filter thread and you prefer to leave a filter in place between shots. That makes it handy for routine photography, when handling the camera or putting it away can bring the exposed front of the lens into contact with dust or fingers. The main point here is protection, rather than a creative filter effect. Since the size is large, matching the filter to the lens matters; the diameter alone doesn’t identify which lenses it fits.
Choosing the right fit
Look for a 127mm filter thread on the lens before choosing this filter. Once fitted, it can stay in place for ordinary shooting, or come off when you want to work with the bare lens front. Keep the filter clean as part of your usual lens care: any dust or marks on the surface are still in the optical path.
Specialist Note
The 127mm diameter makes this a filter for a lens with a notably large front thread, so I’d match that measurement carefully before planning to leave it fitted. Its UV Protector designation tells you the job it’s intended for: a protective filter, rather than a special-effects look. I’d consider it for keeping a lens covered during routine photography, or when the camera is being handled between shots; fit it to the matching thread and keep the filter surface clean. One practical trade-off is that it adds another surface to care for, so it’s best suited to someone who values having that extra layer in place.
