Tiffen FW1BPM18 Filter Wheel 1 Black Promist 1/8
Tiffen FW1BPM18 Filter Wheel 1 Black Promist 1/8 | A subtle diffusion look
When a scene’s highlights feel a little too crisp, a Black Pro-Mist filter can bring a gentler, more diffused character to the image. This Tiffen filter is identified as a Filter Wheel 1 Black Pro-Mist in 1/8 strength, making it a considered option for filmmakers and photographers who want that look without choosing a stronger numbered version. The 1/8 designation is the useful detail here: it identifies the filter’s strength, so you can make a deliberate choice for the mood you want. Black Pro-Mist is associated with softened contrast and a subtle glow around bright points, which can suit portraits, atmospheric scenes and practical lights in frame. It’s a creative-effects filter, rather than a UV filter for basic lens protection. Choose it for the image character, not as an all-purpose clear filter.
The name is specific, but the available product details are brief. This listing identifies the filter type and strength; it doesn’t establish dimensions, mounting method or camera compatibility. If your setup relies on a particular filter system, those details matter, so match the product identification to the system you use before making it part of your kit.
Specialist Note
The 1/8 marking is the detail I’d focus on first: it gives you a clear strength designation when you’re choosing a Black Pro-Mist look. I’d consider it for a portrait where you want highlights to feel softer, or for a night scene with bright practical lights in the frame; use the filter when that gentler rendering is part of the intended mood. The Filter Wheel 1 wording is also important when identifying this particular item, so don’t treat the name as a generic filter size or assume a mounting fit. It suits someone choosing a specific creative effect. It’s not the right pick if you simply want clear UV protection.
