Tokina 82mm Pro IRND 0.3
Tokina 82mm Pro IRND 0.3 | One-stop control of incoming light
Without an ND filter, changing exposure in bright conditions can mean changing your aperture or shutter speed. The Tokina 82mm Pro IRND 0.3 reduces the light reaching the camera by one stop, giving you a small, measured adjustment while keeping those settings closer to where you want them. It’s an ND filter for photographers and filmmakers who need a modest reduction rather than a strong darkening effect. That makes it useful when you’re close to the right exposure and want a little more room to work: for example, to use a wider aperture in daylight or to extend a shutter speed slightly. The 82mm designation identifies the filter size, so it’s intended for a lens with a matching 82mm filter thread. Its strength is restraint; it offers a single-stop change, not the large exposure shift needed for dramatic long exposures in bright light.
Specialist Note
The 0.3 strength is deliberately mild, so it won’t turn a bright afternoon into a long-exposure scene by itself. That’s precisely why I’d suggest it when you only need one stop of adjustment. If your exposure is 1/125 sec, for instance, the filter gives you room to move towards 1/60 sec without changing the other settings. The 82mm size is the detail to match to your lens: with an 82mm filter thread, it’s a straightforward fit. I’d consider it for a modest shutter-speed change on video or a little more aperture flexibility outdoors. For stronger light reduction, you’ll need a denser filter.
