This TTArtisan pairs a wide 21mm view with a bright f/1.5 maximum aperture, giving Sony E photographers room to frame expansive scenes and work in low light. It’s a full-frame prime suited to landscapes, architecture and astrophotography, especially when you want foreground detail in the frame or need more light for a night-sky exposure. For landscapes, moving closer to a foreground subject can give it extra presence against the wider scene. In architecture, the broad perspective can help fit more of a building into the composition. And for stars, the fast aperture gives you more flexibility with exposure than a slower lens would. This is a lens for photographers who are happy to take an active role in composing and focusing, rather than relying on the camera to make those choices for them.

Specialist Note

The TTArtisan 21mm f/1.5 is at its best for wide night-sky compositions. I’d open it to f/1.5, focus manually on a bright star, then check focus before making the frame; the bright aperture is handy when you want to limit exposure time. Its estimated 92° angle of view also works well for architecture: keep the camera level and use the breadth to include more of a façade, rather than tilting up and exaggerating converging lines. It suits photographers who don’t mind taking a little time over focus. Manual focus is less immediate than autofocus, so a measured approach is particularly helpful after dark.
