Urth 58mm CPL Lens Filter Pro
Urth 58mm CPL Lens Filter Pro | Reduce reflections and deepen skies
Without a polarizing filter, glare from glass or water can compete with the subject, and a bright sky may look washed out. The Urth 58mm CPL Lens Filter Pro is a circular polarizing filter for photographers who want more control over those reflections and the look of the sky. Rotate a polarizer while viewing the scene to adjust its effect; it’s especially useful for landscapes, water and photographs made through windows. The 58mm size is the key fit detail: your lens needs a matching 58mm filter thread. This filter is best for situations where reflected light is part of the problem, rather than for adding a general effect to every frame. The result depends on the light and your angle to it, so take a moment to adjust the filter as you compose.
Specialist Note
A polarizer does reduce the light reaching your camera, so it’s not the filter I’d leave on for every situation. I’d choose this Urth when reflections are spoiling a view or a landscape sky needs more definition. Its 58mm size gives you a straightforward fit if your lens has a 58mm thread, and the CPL design lets you adjust the polarizing effect by turning the filter as you watch the scene. For glass, turn it until the reflected room or sky is less distracting; for a landscape, adjust until the sky looks right to you. It suits someone who wants that control in the frame, and is happy to account for the light loss.
