Wooden Camera UMB-1 Universal Mattebox (Filter Tray)
Wooden Camera UMB-1 Universal Mattebox (Filter Tray) | A dedicated tray for your mattebox setup
The key detail here is that this is the filter-tray component for a mattebox, rather than a filter or a complete mattebox. It’s intended for filmmakers building a filter-based setup around the Wooden Camera UMB-1 Universal Mattebox. A tray has a practical, specific role in that setup: it gives the filter its place within the mattebox workflow. That makes this item relevant when you need the tray component for that named system, or are organising a kit around its parts. It’s also useful to identify exactly what you’re buying: the product name points to a filter tray, so it shouldn’t be mistaken for the mattebox itself. If you’re putting together a rig where filters are part of your image-making approach, this is the clearly identified accessory to consider for the UMB-1 setup.
Specialist Note
1 in UMB-1 is the model identifier to keep in mind; in practice, it helps you match this part to the specific mattebox named in the product title. Wooden Camera’s UMB-1 Universal Mattebox wording is also useful when sorting a kit: this is the filter tray component, not a complete mattebox. I’d point this out to anyone assembling or maintaining a filter-based rig, especially if they need the tray part rather than the whole unit. Its role is deliberately narrow, so it pairs with the named mattebox setup; it isn’t a standalone filter. That clear distinction is the most helpful thing to know before choosing it.
