Yashica-Mat + Yashinon 80mm f/3.2 (Copal MXV)

The Yashica-Mat is a classic Twin Lens Reflex (TLR) camera, widely regarded as one of the finest Japanese alternatives to the German Rolleiflex. This model is equipped with the premium 4-element Yashinon 80mm lens set, featuring a bright f/3.2 viewing lens for easy focusing and an f/3.5 taking lens for sharp, high-contrast images. Built around the reliable Copal MXV shutter, it offers a fully mechanical shooting experience, producing large 6x6 negatives on 120 roll film. Its iconic waist-level finder and crank-lever advance make it a masterpiece of mid-century photographic design.

Key Features

  • Brand: Yashica

  • Model: Yashica-Mat

  • Lenses: Yashinon 80mm f/3.2 (Viewing) / f/3.5 (Taking)

  • Shutter: Copal MXV (1s to 1/500s + Bulb)

  • Film Format: 120 Roll Film (6x6 Square)

  • Focus: Ground glass waist-level finder with pop-up magnifier

  • Advance: Crank-lever with automatic shutter cocking

  • Made in: Japan

Condition Used – Good condition This Yashica-Mat is in good functional shape. The mechanical shutter fires reliably across all speeds and the aperture blades are clean. The Yashinon lenses are clear and the focus mechanism is smooth. The body shows light signs of use and a gentle vintage patina. Please note: The built-in light meter is currently non-functional (empty/untested); however, as this is a fully mechanical camera, it does not affect the camera's ability to take photos. It can be used perfectly with a external light meter or smartphone app.

What’s Included

  • Yashica-Mat TLR Camera

  • Yashinon 80mm f/3.2 Viewing Lens

  • Yashinon 80mm f/3.5 Taking Lens

Expert Advice The Yashica-Mat is a superb choice for portrait and fine-art photography due to the shallow depth of field and the unique perspective provided by the waist-level viewfinder. Since the internal meter is not active, this is the perfect opportunity to learn the "Sunny 16" rule or use a light meter app on your phone for high precision. This manual approach often leads to more deliberate and artistic results. We recommend using a sturdy tripod for landscape shots to fully capture the incredible detail that the 6x6 medium format negatives provide.
