The Tokina Cinema 135mm T1.5 (PL) is an interchangeable cinema lens with a 135mm focal length, made for filmmakers who want deliberate framing and a more selective view of a scene. Its longer perspective suits close-ups where you want to hold on a face or object without making the shot feel wide. It’s also useful for picking out a detail within a larger scene. This is a manual-focus lens for video and filmmaking, so it suits crews who want to set focus with intention rather than rely on autofocus. The 135mm view is specific, though: it’s at its best when you have room to frame from farther back, rather than when the camera needs to cover a whole room.

Specialist Note

Keeping a close-up composed can be awkward when there isn’t room to move the camera; the 135mm focal length makes this lens a better fit when you can work from farther back. I’d consider it for a dialogue close-up or a portrait within a scene, using the longer view to keep the frame focused on the subject.
