Seagate Expansion Desktop External 16TB

Seagate Expansion Desktop External 16TB | Room for your archive

Your photo and video archive has space to grow with the Seagate Expansion Desktop External 16TB. It’s an external hard drive with 16TB of storage, suited to photographers and other creators who want a place for a sizeable collection of files. It’s best used for keeping a broad archive together, rather than relying on scattered folders across several smaller drives. That can make it easier to set up a clear home for finished projects, older shoots and files you want to keep close at hand. The capacity is the main point here: it gives you a substantial amount of storage to work with. One honest consideration: a single drive is still only one copy of your files, so it shouldn’t be your only safeguard for work you can’t replace.

Making room for an archive

Before moving a large collection onto a new drive, it helps to decide how you’ll organise it. You might sort folders by year, client or project, then keep the same naming approach as new work comes in. A simple structure makes it easier to find a particular set of images later, and it keeps the archive from turning into one long list of folders with unclear names. You can also separate completed work from files that are still in progress, so the drive has a clear role in your routine.

For important photographs, keep another copy somewhere separate. An external hard drive can give your archive a dedicated home, but a second copy helps protect against losing access to the first. If you already have a clear backup routine, this Seagate drive can serve as a substantial destination for your stored files. If you don’t, take a moment to decide what needs to be copied and how you’ll keep that second copy current. The drive is straightforward in concept: a large-capacity external HDD for keeping files in one place.
