Pancro Mitchell Diffusion Filter B
Pancro Mitchell Diffusion Filter B | A diffusion filter for a softer image
The Pancro Mitchell Diffusion Filter B is identified by a specific job: adding diffusion to an image. That makes it relevant to photographers and filmmakers who want a softer rendering as part of their chosen look, rather than a filter described only by a general category. The product name also includes the designation “B”, so it’s worth keeping that exact version name in mind when selecting or documenting your setup. Use it when diffusion is an intentional part of the image you’re making; it isn’t a substitute for a UV filter’s protective or filtering role. The amount of diffusion and the result you prefer are matters to judge in your own setup, so compare images made with and without the filter under the same conditions. That’s the most reliable way to decide whether this named variant suits your work.
Specialist Note
The Pancro Mitchell Diffusion Filter B is for putting diffusion into the image, with the B designation identifying the version by name. I’d suggest it to someone who wants to make that softer look a deliberate part of a shot, rather than relying on post-processing to create it. For a straightforward comparison, photograph the same subject with exposure held at 1/125 s, then make a second frame with the filter in place; that keeps the shutter speed consistent while you judge the difference. The honest point is that “B” alone doesn’t tell you how strong the effect will look in your particular scene. I’d assess it with the lighting and subjects you expect to use.
