PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 6-9 - 77mm - McKinnon Series
PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 6-9 - 77mm - McKinnon Series | Adjustable light and polarisation control
PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 6-9 - 77mm - McKinnon Series combines a variable neutral-density range of 6–9 stops with a polarizing function. It’s made for photographers and filmmakers who want to manage bright light and reflections with one filter on the lens. The variable ND function reduces the light reaching the sensor, giving you more room to choose your exposure in bright conditions. The polarizing function can help reduce reflections from surfaces such as water or glass, and can deepen the appearance of a blue sky when the shooting angle is right. That makes it especially relevant for outdoor video, landscapes and scenes with reflective surfaces. It’s a specialised tool rather than an everyday filter: the 6–9-stop range is for situations where you need substantial light reduction. If you’re choosing it for a lens, the 77mm size is the key fit detail.
Specialist Note
Exposure control here is a deliberate, substantial adjustment: the 6–9-stop range is useful when bright conditions make your chosen video exposure hard to maintain. For outdoor filming, use the variable ND function to cut incoming light while keeping the motion treatment you want; the exact exposure still depends on your camera settings and the available light. The 77mm size means it’s for a lens that takes 77mm filters, so match that measurement before planning a setup. For water or glass, the polarizing function can help tame reflections; changing your shooting angle can affect what the filter does. I’d reserve this for bright-day work, since a 6–9-stop reduction can be too much when light is limited.
