Freewell 67mm Threaded Hybrid Variable ND/CPL 3-7 Stop Filter 67mm
Freewell 67mm Threaded Hybrid Variable ND/CPL 3-7 Stop Filter 67mm | Adjust exposure and reflections together
Without a filter, controlling bright light usually means changing your shutter speed, aperture or ISO. This Freewell filter puts two familiar photographic jobs into one threaded filter: it combines variable neutral-density control with a circular polariser. That makes it useful when you want to reduce the light reaching the lens while also managing reflections, rather than carrying those filter functions separately. Its stated range runs from 3 to 7 stops, giving you room to adjust the amount of light reduction to the scene. It suits photographers and filmmakers who want more control over exposure in bright conditions, and who also work with reflective surfaces. The 67mm thread makes it a specific fit for a lens with a matching filter thread, so it isn’t a universal accessory. If your lens has that thread size, the hybrid format keeps the two functions together.
Specialist Note
The main limitation is the 67mm thread: it’s only a match for a lens with a 67mm filter thread. If that’s your lens, the appeal is having variable ND and CPL functions in one filter. I’d consider it for daylight video, where reducing light can help you keep a slower shutter, or for reflective water, where the polarising function can help manage glare. The 3–7-stop range gives you a useful amount of adjustment rather than one fixed reduction; make small changes as the scene demands. It’s a particularly sensible option if both exposure control and reflections matter in your work, though the thread size should guide your choice first.
