GREEN.L 55mm HMC ND Fader Variable
GREEN.L 55mm HMC ND Fader Variable | Adjust light for more exposure control
GREEN.L 55mm HMC ND Fader Variable is a variable ND filter in a 55mm size, giving you adjustable light reduction in front of the lens. It suits photographers and video makers who want to manage bright conditions without changing filters each time the light shifts. An ND filter reduces the light reaching the camera; the variable fader lets you adjust that reduction to suit the scene and your exposure settings. That makes it useful when you want to keep a wider aperture outdoors, or when filming and you need to manage exposure while keeping your chosen shutter setting. The 55mm size is relevant for lenses with a matching filter thread. This is a straightforward tool for hands-on exposure control, rather than a filter with a fixed level of light reduction. Turn the fader to find the exposure that works for the shot, then set your camera accordingly.
Specialist Note
Exposure control becomes a quick adjustment at the lens: turn the fader to change the amount of light reduction, instead of swapping between fixed ND filters as conditions change. The 55mm size suits a lens with a matching filter thread, so check the thread size printed on your lens before choosing it. I’d use it outdoors when you want to keep a wider aperture in bright light, or for video when you need to hold your chosen shutter setting; adjust the fader until the exposure looks right. One practical point: the filter changes the light entering the camera, but you’ll still need to set aperture, shutter speed and ISO yourself.
