A speaker at the front of a church or lecture room can be hard to keep framed from a fixed camera position. The Feelworld UHD4K12X PTZ Camera combines 4K video at up to 30 fps with a 12x optical zoom, so a single remotely operated camera can cover a wide room view and tighter shots. It’s an IP camera for live production, conferencing and other fixed-room video setups where pan, tilt and zoom need to be controlled from a distance. Its 8.51-megapixel Sony CMOS sensor records detailed video, while the lens’s wide view is around 70° for establishing shots. HDMI, 3G-SDI, USB 3.0 and IP video outputs can operate at the same time, which is useful when a room setup needs both a local production connection and a network stream. For online teaching, the operator can frame a lecturer or move to a board view; in telemedicine, a controlled close-up can bring details into the picture. H.264 and H.265 encoding support IP streaming where bandwidth is limited, and PoE can carry power and network video over one Ethernet cable on a LAN setup. Real-time AI tracking is also available for moving subjects.

What it does well

• Four ways to send video: HDMI, 3G-SDI, USB 3.0 and IP output work simultaneously. That gives a production team options for a local display, computer connection and network stream from the same camera.
• Pan and tilt coverage: The camera turns through 340° horizontally and 120° vertically. Its quiet movement suits rooms where camera movement should be unobtrusive during a meeting, lesson or service.
• Stored camera positions: Save up to 10 pan, tilt and zoom positions with the IR remote, or up to 255 through network control or a keyboard controller. Recalling a saved view is handy when a programme switches between regular speakers or room areas.
• Automatic focus: Autofocus keeps the subject sharp as the framing changes. The camera also supports smart framing, useful when setting up a shot around people in the room.
• Noise reduction: 2D and 3D noise reduction work alongside the low-noise CMOS sensor. This processing is intended to keep the picture clear when image noise is a concern.
• Network control options: Control is available over the network, as well as through the supplied IR remote. The camera can also be controlled with the Feelworld L2 Plus video switcher or KBC10 keyboard controller.
• Tracking modes: Real-time AI tracking follows a moving subject, and zone tracking is available through network control. These options are useful when a presenter moves around rather than staying at one lectern.

In the hand

The camera measures 181 × 115 × 149 mm and weighs 1.2 kg, so it’s a manageable unit for a fixed room installation. There’s no viewfinder or screen information supplied here; day-to-day framing and movement are handled remotely. The included IR remote covers basic pan, tilt and zoom operation, with an approximate range of 10 metres. For a control position farther away, use network control instead.
