Caruba Rubber Lens Hood 3IN1 72mm
Caruba Rubber Lens Hood 3IN1 72mm | Shade the lens and guard its front
Keep light from a low sun or a bright window outside the frame from washing across the lens and adding flare or a colour cast. The Caruba Rubber Lens Hood 3IN1 72mm is a rubber hood for lenses with a 72mm filter fitting, with three positions for different framing needs. Its three-position design is the distinguishing feature: the wide-angle position is intended to avoid vignetting in broad views, while the hood also blocks unwanted light from reaching the lens. That makes it useful for outdoor scenes with strong light near the edge of the composition, and indoors when a lamp or window is shining towards the camera. The rubber construction adds a buffer around the front of the lens, too, which is welcome when handling or carrying your camera. It’s a straightforward accessory for managing stray light while adding a little protection to a lens with the matching 72mm fitting.
Three-Position Light Control
- Three adjustable positions: Set the hood to one of its three positions to suit your framing. That adjustment gives you options beyond a single fixed hood shape.
- Wide-angle position: This setting is intended to prevent vignetting when your lens is used for a broad view. It helps keep the image corners clear of darkening caused by the hood.
- Blocks unwanted light: The hood shades the lens from light coming in from outside the frame. This is useful when a bright source sits just beyond the composition.
- Reduced flare and colour cast: By keeping stray light off the lens, the hood prevents the flare and colour shifts associated with unwanted incoming light.
- Rubber construction: The material provides a buffer around the lens front if it gets knocked or is accidentally dropped. It adds a layer of physical protection without changing the lens itself.
Specialist Note
The rubber body gives this hood a softer edge around the front of your lens, adding a buffer when the camera is being handled or packed away. I’d consider it for outdoor views with strong light just beyond the frame: use the wide-angle position for a broad composition, where avoiding vignetting matters. Indoors, its shading is useful when a bright window or lamp is close to the edge of your shot and unwanted light could reach the lens. The three positions are the detail that makes this version more adjustable than a fixed hood. Do make sure your lens has a 72mm filter fitting; that size is specific.
