Tokina Cinema 11-20mm T2.9 MFT | Wide framing for controlled video work

When a small room leaves little space to step back, a wide zoom can help you frame the scene without moving the camera. The Tokina Cinema 11-20mm T2.9 MFT is an interchangeable wide-angle zoom for video and filmmaking, with a focal range that lets you adjust your framing on set. Its maximum aperture is T2.9, and it uses manual focus, so it suits crews who want to set focus themselves rather than rely on autofocus. The MFT mount and Micro Four Thirds format make it a lens for Micro Four Thirds camera systems. On those bodies, the 11-20mm range gives a full-frame-equivalent angle of view of roughly 22-40mm. Our estimated angle of view is 89° to 57°. It’s a practical range for establishing shots, interiors and moving between a broad view and a tighter composition without changing lenses.

Specialist Note

Getting a wide shot in a confined space can be a headache; this zoom gives you room to adjust your composition from 11mm to 20mm without changing lenses. I’d use 11mm to establish a compact interior, then move toward 20mm for a less expansive frame. The T2.9 maximum aperture gives you the option to open the lens up when you need more light, while manual focus suits deliberate focus pulls and carefully set shots. It’s a good fit for filmmakers who prefer to control focus themselves. One trade-off: if you need autofocus to follow a moving subject, manual focus won’t provide that help.
