The 1.33x anamorphic squeeze and blue flare give this 100mm cine lens a distinctive widescreen character, making it especially appealing to filmmakers who want a deliberate look in their images. It’s an interchangeable short telephoto prime for Nikon Z cameras with full-frame sensors, suited to video work where considered framing and controlled focus matter more than autofocus convenience. The squeeze can be desqueezed into a widescreen image in post, while the blue flare brings a recognisable streak of colour when light sources enter the frame. Its 100mm focal length lends itself to tighter views of a subject, details and interview shots. This is a focused filmmaking tool rather than a general-purpose lens: choose it when you want that anamorphic presentation and have time to work with manual focus.

Specialist Note

T1.8 gives you room to work with less light than a slower aperture would allow, and it also lets you keep the image’s focus plane narrow when that suits the scene. On a full-frame Nikon Z camera, 100mm gives you a tight short-telephoto view; for an interview close-up, step back until the framing feels comfortable, then use manual focus to hold the speaker’s eyes.
