B+W Black Mist 1/8 MRC Nano V-PRO 72mm
B+W Black Mist 1/8 MRC Nano V-PRO 72mm | Gentle highlight bloom for a softer look
The 1/8 Black Mist effect gives this filter a gentler touch than a more pronounced mist look, making it a considered option for photographers who want softer-looking highlights without making the effect the whole picture. It suits portrait photographers and anyone drawn to atmospheric scenes with visible lights, such as evening street scenes or interiors. Use it when you want bright points in the frame to feel less crisp and the image to take on a softer character. The effect is part of the image as you make it, rather than something you need to add later. The MRC Nano V-PRO name identifies this B+W filter’s particular product line; the title gives no further construction details to compare. Its 72mm designation makes it relevant to lenses that take a 72mm filter. Think of it as a creative rendering filter, not an exposure-planning tool.
Specialist Note
The B+W Black Mist 1/8 MRC Nano V-PRO 72mm is best at softening the feel of highlights without pushing the mist effect too hard. The 1/8 strength is a restrained starting point: I’d consider it for portraits where you want a gentler impression, or for a night scene with lamps or signs in the frame. Keep those bright sources visible in your composition so the softening has something to work with. The 72mm size means it suits a lens with a matching 72mm filter thread. One honest caveat: if you want a strong, obvious diffusion look, this light strength may feel too subtle.
