Urth 43mm ND64 (6 Stop) Lens Filter Pro

Urth 43mm ND64 (6 Stop) Lens Filter Pro | Create longer exposures in bright light

Bright daylight can make it hard to use a slow shutter speed without overexposing your photograph. The Urth 43mm ND64 Pro filter cuts the light reaching the camera by six stops, giving you room to lengthen exposure while keeping your chosen aperture and ISO. That makes it useful for showing movement in flowing water or clouds, or for using a slower shutter speed in conditions where the light would otherwise force you to shoot faster. Its 43mm size is for lenses with a matching filter diameter, so it suits photographers whose kit uses that size and who want a straightforward way to control exposure. This is a fixed-strength filter, not an adjustable one: the six-stop reduction is substantial, so it’s best when you have a clear reason to slow the shutter rather than for small exposure changes.

Using the six-stop reduction

Keep your aperture and ISO constant, then compensate for the reduced light with a longer exposure. For example, a shutter speed around 1/250 second becomes roughly 1/4 second after six stops. That can record motion as a visible blur; the exact look depends on how fast the subject is moving and how long you expose.
