Nikon HN-36 Hood For AF-3
Nikon HN-36 Hood For AF-3 | Helps shade against stray light
In bright daylight, light coming in from the side can make a lens hood earn its place. The Nikon HN-36 is a lens hood identified for the AF-3, giving owners of that setup a specifically named accessory to look for rather than a hood selected by appearance alone. Its practical role is to shade the front of the lens from stray light, which can help when you're photographing outdoors or working near a bright window. It’s a focused accessory, not a general-purpose upgrade: the key detail is its stated pairing with the AF-3. If you use that setup and want a hood associated with it, the HN-36 is the model to consider. Keep it in mind for scenes where light is coming from outside your framing and you want to reduce its direct effect on the lens.
Specialist Note
The tricky part is finding a hood by the right designation, rather than guessing from a similar-looking accessory. Here, HN-36 is the specific model name, and “For AF-3” gives you the intended pairing to work from. I’d consider it for an AF-3 owner who often shoots outdoors in strong side light, or near a bright window: use the hood to shade the lens from light outside the picture. It’s a straightforward, purpose-specific accessory; its value depends on having the AF-3 setup it’s named for. If that’s what you use, this clear model-and-pairing information makes the HN-36 easy to identify.
