H&Y HD EVO-Series IRND32 Filter Kit 82mm
H&Y HD EVO-Series IRND32 Filter Kit 82mm | Five stops of light control
Bright daylight can make a long exposure difficult: the shutter speed you need may let in too much light. The H&Y HD EVO-Series IRND32 Filter Kit is made for that kind of situation, giving you a 32-strength neutral-density filter in an 82mm size. An ND32 reduces the light reaching the camera by five stops, so you can use a slower shutter speed without changing the scene’s lighting. That makes it particularly suited to smoothing moving water or showing motion in clouds during the day. It can also help when you want to use a wider aperture in bright conditions. The title identifies this as an IRND filter, but doesn’t give details about the kit’s contents or construction, so I won’t guess at those. Its specific strength is the key point: this is a fixed five-stop reduction, rather than an adjustable range.
Specialist Note
The 82mm filter ring is a useful size to keep in mind: it’s intended for a lens with a matching filter thread, so check that number against the lens you plan to use. The ND32 rating gives you five stops to work with, which is enough to turn a metered 1/30-second exposure into roughly one second without changing aperture or ISO. That’s a practical starting point for giving a stream or fountain visible movement in daylight. I’d also consider it for holding a wider aperture in bright light. It’s a fixed-strength filter, so it won’t cover every lighting situation; its appeal is that clearly defined five-stop step.
