Mentter HD CPL 86mm
Mentter HD CPL 86mm | Control reflections and deepen skies
To cut distracting reflections from water or glass and bring more depth to a blue sky, a polarizing filter can make a clear difference in the scene. The Mentter HD CPL 86mm is a polarizing filter for photographers who want more control over those reflections and the look of outdoor light. Turn the filter while viewing your composition to compare the effect; the strongest result depends on the light and your shooting angle. That makes it useful when photographing a reflective surface, or when a bright sky looks pale beside the landscape beneath it. The 86mm size is the key fit detail: your lens needs an 86mm filter thread. A polarizer won’t remove every reflection, and its effect varies with the scene, so it’s best treated as a considered adjustment rather than an automatic fix. For landscapes, water and glass, it gives you a hands-on way to shape the image before you take it.
Specialist Note
The 86mm diameter is a practical detail to get right first: it’s made for a lens with an 86mm filter thread, so the filter can sit in front of the lens as intended. CPL tells you this is a circular polarizer, and its effect is adjusted by turning the filter while watching the scene. I’d use that control for water reflections or a washed-out sky, rotating slowly until the balance looks right rather than aiming for the strongest effect every time. It suits landscape and outdoor work where glare is part of the picture. Just remember that the result depends on the light and angle, and reflections from metal won’t disappear with polarization.
