Revar Cine 138mm Close Up 5-DIOPTER Set | Bring fine details closer

Revar Cine 138mm Close Up 5-DIOPTER Set is a close-up filter set identified by its 138mm size and 5-diopter strength. It’s intended for cine users who want to frame small subjects or surface details more tightly, rather than relying on a lens’s usual close-focus range alone. A close-up diopter lets a lens focus on nearer subjects, which can make details such as lettering, product features and textures easier to bring into the frame. The 5-diopter rating makes this a pronounced close-up option, so it suits deliberate detail shots and inserts more than general-purpose filming. The 138mm designation is an important part of planning the front of your setup; it’s not a size to treat as universal. If close-focus shots are part of your work, this set gives you a clearly specified strength to build those shots around. Its appeal is straightforward: a dedicated close-up tool for bringing near details into focus.

Specialist Note

At 5 diopters, close-up work becomes a deliberate part of the shot, rather than a small adjustment to an ordinary framing. I’d consider this for cine operators making tight inserts of a product label, a component or a textured surface: bring the subject into the lens’s close-focus range, then refine focus and framing around the detail you want to show. The 138mm designation is the other practical point; account for that size when planning the front of your lens setup. This suits controlled detail work, where you can take time to compose. One honest caveat: that 5-diopter strength is quite specific, so it’s less suited to a setup meant to cover a broad range of everyday shots.
