3 Legged Thing QR Ultra 150mm X 38mm Arca Compatible Long Plate Matte Black
3 Legged Thing QR Ultra 150mm X 38mm Arca Compatible Long Plate Matte Black | More room to position your camera
Its long format is the defining feature of the 3 Legged Thing QR Ultra plate: it gives you more room to position a camera than a compact plate. It suits photographers who often need to adjust their camera’s placement on a tripod, rather than leave it in one fixed spot. That extra travel can be handy when refining a composition or adjusting how the camera sits on the tripod. The plate is Arca compatible, so it’s intended for use with an Arca-compatible clamp. It’s a straightforward tripod accessory, not a camera support on its own: the benefit comes from pairing it with a suitable tripod head and having room to reposition the camera. If you regularly move between setups, that flexibility may be more useful than a shorter plate. The matte black finish keeps the look understated.
Think of the extra length as adjustment space, not a promise of a particular camera fit. Before choosing a plate, consider the space available in your clamp and how much room you want for positioning. For a fixed setup that never needs adjustment, a long plate may be more plate than you need. For careful tripod composition, the added working length can make it easier to settle on a position without shifting the tripod itself.
Specialist Note
The 3 Legged Thing QR Ultra long plate is best at giving you extra fore-and-aft positioning room in an Arca-compatible clamp. Its 150mm length gives you space to adjust where the camera sits; that’s useful when refining a tripod composition, especially for still-life work where small framing changes matter. The 38mm width is a practical measurement to compare with the clamp area on your head before buying. I’d look at this for a tripod setup that gets adjusted often, rather than a camera that stays in one fixed position. One honest trade-off: a long plate takes up more room than a short one, so choose it for the adjustment range, not compactness.
