The 7Artisans 10mm f/2.8 is an ultra-wide prime for Sony E-mount full-frame cameras, giving you a broad view—around 130° by our estimate—in a single frame. It’s suited to photographers who want to work deliberately with landscapes, architecture or the night sky, rather than rely on a zoom to find a composition. At 10mm, nearby details can take on a strong sense of scale against distant surroundings, so a foreground stone or doorway can give a scene a clear anchor. Manual focus suits a measured approach: take a moment to set focus and refine the framing, especially when important details sit near the edges. For astro work, the f/2.8 maximum aperture lets in more light than a slower setting would, which can help keep exposures practical after dark. This lens asks for care with composition, but gives you room to include a lot in one frame.

Specialist Note

I’ll be candid: at 10mm, details close to the edges can look stretched, so this isn’t the lens I’d choose when every line at the frame edge needs to stay understated. Its appeal is how much the roughly 130° view can gather without stepping back. For architecture, I’d keep the main building well placed and check the edges as I compose. For a starry sky, f/2.8 is where I’d start, with around 10 seconds as a first exposure to try; adjust for the sky and your camera.
