Without a very wide lens, fitting a whole room or sweeping landscape into frame can mean giving up space to move back. The 7Artisans 14mm T2.9 FF is an interchangeable cinema lens for L-mount cameras from Panasonic, Leica and Sigma, made for video and filmmaking. Its 14mm focal length and 114° angle of view give you room to include more of a scene, making it well suited to establishing shots, interiors and expansive outdoor views. It covers full-frame sensors, so you can use that broad view across the frame on a full-frame L-mount camera. This is a manual-focus prime, so it suits filmmakers who prefer to set focus themselves rather than rely on autofocus. If your work calls for wide framing with a deliberate, hands-on approach, this lens has a clear purpose.

Specialist Note

Manual focus does ask you to take responsibility for focus, so this isn’t the pick for footage where you need the camera to track a moving subject for you. For planned shots, that control is part of the appeal. The T2.9 maximum aperture gives you more room to work when a location is dim: open it to T2.9 for a wide interior establishing shot, then set focus carefully before recording. I’d point this lens towards filmmakers who build their shots rather than chase action—think a locked-off room view or a measured camera move through a space. Its wide framing is a strong tool, but it works best when you’ve chosen the composition deliberately.
