7Artisans 28mm f/1.4 Leica M-Mount | FullFrame | Wide views with room for low light

Your street and travel photographs can keep the surroundings in the frame, giving a person or detail a clear sense of place. The 7Artisans 28mm f/1.4 is a wide-angle prime for Leica M full-frame cameras, suited to photographers who want a broad view without stepping too far back from the scene. At 28mm, it’s a practical perspective for street corners, busy markets and travel scenes where the setting matters as much as the subject. It’s manually focused, so you’ll set focus yourself rather than leave it to autofocus. The lens is finished in black. If you enjoy taking time to place a subject within its surroundings and want one fixed focal length for exploring, this gives you a straightforward way to work.

Specialist Note

f/1.4 gives you more room to work when the light drops: for an evening street scene, try f/1.4 and 1/125s, then adjust ISO to suit the conditions. The 75° angle of view takes in a generous slice of the street, so keep an eye on the edges of your frame as well as your subject. Manual focus suits a deliberate approach; pre-focus where you expect someone to pass, then wait for the moment. I’d recommend it to Leica M photographers who enjoy making those choices themselves. If you need autofocus to follow fast-moving subjects, this isn’t the lens I’d reach for.
