7Artisans Infinte 105mm T2.1 FullFrame DE-Clicked EF Mount
7Artisans Infinte 105mm T2.1 FullFrame DE-Clicked EF Mount | Controlled video focus
The de-clicked aperture sets this 7Artisans prime apart: you can adjust exposure without stepped clicks, which is handy when filming a changing scene. It’s a manual-focus short telephoto lens for Canon EF mount cameras with a full-frame sensor, aimed squarely at filmmakers who want deliberate framing and hands-on control. The 105mm view suits close portraits, interviews and detail shots, giving subjects a tighter presence in the frame than a standard focal length. Its T2.1 maximum aperture gives you room to work in lower light and to separate a subject from the background when focus is carefully set. This is a video lens first, rather than a general-purpose option for quick, spontaneous shooting. If you work with measured focus and considered compositions, its longer perspective can be a real asset.
Specialist Note
The 7Artisans Infinte 105mm T2.1 is at its best framing composed interview shots with a calm, close perspective. I’d use it for a head-and-shoulders setup, set the aperture to T2.1 when you want the background to soften, then pull focus manually as your subject moves. The de-clicked aperture is useful when light changes during a take: you can adjust exposure without the clicks of stepped settings interrupting the shot. Its 23° angle of view is quite narrow, so allow room to work; in a small room, framing can feel tight. It suits filmmakers who can take time to place the camera and set focus.
