Atomos A-EYE 4K-20X

Atomos A-EYE 4K-20X - UHD 4K video at 60 fps

A presenter moves across a classroom, or a speaker takes the floor in a church hall, and the camera needs to keep the picture on them. The Atomos A-EYE 4K-20X is a PTZ camera that captures UHD 4K at up to 60 fps, with AI auto-tracking for presentations where the subject moves around the room. It’s aimed at schools, churches and meeting spaces that need a camera for live streaming or remote sessions, including meetings on platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Skype. The same setup can record instructional videos, or cover a business presentation for viewers joining remotely. You can choose between 4K60 and 1080p60 capture, depending on the job and the stream you’re producing. Its 1/1.8-inch UHD CMOS sensor is at the heart of the camera, while the integrated zoom lens gives you reach for framing a presenter from further back in the room. The camera also offers several ways to get video into a production, from USB to SDI and network output. That range is useful in rooms where streaming and installed video equipment need to work together. It’s a specialist camera rather than a general-purpose webcam, with tracking, remote control and multiple video connections all built into one unit.

Tracking and Streaming Features

• AI auto-tracking: The camera follows a moving presenter, which is useful for lectures and talks where the speaker doesn’t stay behind a lectern. The tracking function is intended for presentations that need to continue while the subject moves around the space.
• 20x optical zoom: The integrated lens has a 20x optical zoom range, so you can frame a speaker from a distance without relying on digital enlargement. A further 16x digital zoom is available for tighter close-ups.
• Multiple video outputs: HDMI, 3G-SDI, USB-A 3.0 and IP outputs give the camera several routes into a streaming or video system. That’s useful when a room combines computer-based streaming with existing video connections.
• NDI|HX3 licence included: NDI|HX3 support is licensed with the camera for use on compatible streaming networks. It provides a network-based way to send video, with the source describing the format as high quality and low latency.
• USB recording: Video can be recorded directly to a hard drive through the USB-A connection. That gives a lecture or presentation a local recording alongside its use in a live stream.
• Audio connections: An onboard microphone is included, and a 3.5mm stereo line-level input accepts external audio. The camera also has a 3.5mm stereo audio output for audio connections in a production setup.

Good to know

Remote control is available over IP or RS-485, with a separate controller required for RS-485 operation. For video compression, the camera supports H.265, H.264 and MJPEG. Power comes from a DC adapter or PoE+ on a compatible network. Tally lights and UVC support are also included, details that matter when integrating the camera into a room-based production workflow.
