B+W 103 MRC ND Gray 67
B+W 103 MRC ND Gray 67 | Slow shutter speeds in bright light
Keeping a slower shutter speed in bright conditions can give moving water a softer, flowing look instead of freezing every ripple. The B+W 103 MRC ND Gray 67 is a neutral-density filter in the 67 mm size, made for photographers who want more control over exposure when the scene is bright. By reducing the light reaching the camera, an ND filter gives you room to choose a slower shutter speed or a wider aperture than the light would otherwise allow. That makes it especially useful for landscape work: you can show motion in a stream, or keep a chosen aperture while working outdoors. It suits photographers who want to make those exposure choices without changing the scene itself. The title identifies it as an ND Gray filter, but doesn’t give a strength value, so I’d avoid assuming a particular exposure reduction.
Specialist Note
Bright light can leave you with a shutter speed that freezes water when you wanted to show its movement. This ND Gray filter reduces the light reaching the camera, giving you the option of choosing a slower exposure for a softer stream or waterfall. The 67 mm size is useful when your lens has a matching filter thread; it’s the number to check when choosing the right fit. I’d also use it outdoors when you want to keep a wider aperture in strong light. Just remember, the filter gives you exposure room—the shutter speed is what creates the blur.
