B+W Black Mist 1/8 MRC Nano V-PRO 52mm
B+W Black Mist 1/8 MRC Nano V-PRO 52mm | Gentle glow around highlights
For portraits and scenes with bright points of light, a Black Mist filter gives highlights a softer, gently glowing character while keeping the image recognisable. The B+W Black Mist 1/8 MRC Nano V-PRO 52mm is the lighter 1/8 strength, for photographers who want that atmospheric look without making it the whole picture. It suits portrait makers, filmmakers and anyone who likes a softer rendering of practical lights in a scene. Try it with a face framed by a bright window, or a night street where lamps can take on a subtle halo. The 52mm size is for a lens with a matching filter thread, so it’s worth checking the marking on the lens itself. This is a creative effect filter: choose it for the way it renders light, rather than as a way to control exposure. The V-PRO designation is part of the product name; the title also identifies its MRC Nano finish.
Specialist Note
The 52mm ring makes this a specific fit, not a filter to move casually between lenses: match that diameter and it’ll be ready to stay on the lens you use for the look. I’d steer you to the 1/8 strength if you want highlights to soften while the scene still feels clear and detailed. It’s a considered option for a portrait with a bright window behind the subject, or for night footage with lamps in frame; keep those lights visible and let the filter shape their appearance. The honest limit is that it’s a creative rendering, not a neutral look, so it won’t suit every subject or every lighting style.
