B&W Bw.case PP.166; Case Type 4000; Pre-Cut Foam; Bronze Green
B&W Bw.case PP.166; Case Type 4000; Pre-Cut Foam; Bronze Green | Hard-case protection for gear in transit
Loose equipment in a soft bag can be exposed to bumps, dust and rain as you move it between locations. The B&W PP.166 is a hard case for photographers and other camera users who need a more protective way to transport or store their gear. Its purpose is straightforward: keep equipment better protected when it’s being carried or put away in conditions where knocks and dirt are a concern. The supplier also identifies rain as one of the situations this case suits. That makes it a practical option for kit that needs a dedicated, enclosed place between uses, rather than being left loose in a general bag. It’s a case for people who value protection and organised storage over the lighter, simpler carry of a soft bag.
Specialist Note
For a damp studio load-out, I’d reserve the Type 4000 case for the gear you don’t want travelling loose. The pre-cut foam gives you a shaped place to arrange equipment, making it easier to return items to a consistent layout after use. That’s useful when the case moves between storage and transport, especially where knocks or dust are a concern. I also like that this particular version is bronze green, rather than an anonymous-looking black case. It suits photographers who want a more protective home for their kit. One trade-off: a hard case is another item to carry, so it makes most sense when protection matters more than a soft bag’s simplicity.
