Canon Lens Hood ET-138
Canon Lens Hood ET-138 | Shade the lens from stray light
Keep stray light from reaching the front of the lens and you can help prevent flare from washing across a scene. The Canon Lens Hood ET-138 is a lens hood for photographers who want to manage unwanted light while making pictures, particularly in bright or backlit conditions. Its purpose is straightforward: shade the lens so the image is less likely to lose contrast to light coming from outside the frame. That can be useful when photographing a subject against a bright sky, or when a strong light source sits just beyond the edge of your composition. A hood is a simple, practical accessory rather than a change to the way you expose or frame a shot. The product name identifies it as the ET-138; the available product information doesn’t establish which lenses it fits, so I’ve kept the description to what’s known.
Specialist Note
The ET-138’s open end is the part that matters in use: as a lens hood, it provides shade in front of the lens, helping keep stray light off the front when you’re working near a bright source. I’d think of it for scenes with strong light just outside the frame, or a backlit subject where flare could soften the picture. Adjust your position or framing so the bright source is screened from the lens, while keeping your subject in view. The name gives you a specific designation to identify, and “lens hood” tells you its role; those are the two solid details here. I can’t responsibly name a lens pairing from the information available.
