Caruba Cablestopper

Caruba Cablestopper | Keep cable pulls off your camera

A cable catching or pulling at the camera connection can put strain on your equipment. The Caruba Cablestopper provides strain relief for connected cables measuring 3.5 to 8.5 mm in diameter. Its Camera Support component holds the cable at the camera, helping reduce the risk of damage from a tug. That makes it relevant for a flash sync cable during a flash setup, an HDMI or USB cable connected to the camera, and a standard mains cable or FireWire cable within the supported diameter range. The useful detail is that it covers several common cable types rather than a single connector format; the fit is based on cable thickness. At 11.4 cm long and 6 g, it’s a small accessory to add to a camera setup. It won’t replace careful cable handling, but it addresses a specific problem: a connected lead being pulled hard enough to put your equipment at risk.

Cable Protection Highlights

• Strain relief at the camera: The Camera Support holds cables connected to the camera to reduce strain at the connection. That matters when a cable gets pulled during a shoot, where the force could otherwise reach the equipment.
• Fits 3.5–8.5 mm cable diameters: The stated range covers cables from 3.5 mm up to 8.5 mm thick. Check the cable’s outside diameter against this range, since compatibility is given by thickness rather than connector type.
• Supports several cable types: Use it with a standard mains cable, flash sync cable, HDMI, USB or FireWire cable, provided it falls within the diameter range. That breadth is handy for setups where different kinds of leads connect to the camera.
• Compact and lightweight: The stopper measures 11.4 cm in length and weighs 6 g. It adds little weight to the setup, while providing a dedicated point of cable strain relief at the camera.
• Helps guard against equipment damage: A cable tug can put connected equipment at risk. By providing strain relief, the Cablestopper addresses that risk before a pull puts excessive strain on the connection.
