Caruba EW 65B For Canon RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM EF 24mm f/2.8 28mm f/2.8 | A lens hood for three named Canon lenses

Bright light coming from the side can be a nuisance when you’re framing a street scene or a close-up. A lens hood gives you a simple way to shade the front of the lens without using your hand. The Caruba EW 65B is listed for three Canon lenses: the RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM, the EF 24mm f/2.8 and the EF 28mm f/2.8. That makes it a specific accessory to consider if one of those is in your kit, rather than a hood chosen by guesswork. Its purpose is straightforward: help keep stray light from reaching the lens while you compose. It’s most useful outdoors in changeable light, and handy when you want to keep both hands free for the camera. The product details here identify the compatible lenses, so match the name to the lens you use.

Specialist Note

The EW 65B gives the listed Canon lenses a dedicated hood instead of making your hand do the shading. If you use the RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM, its f/1.8 maximum aperture lets you work with a wide aperture in dimmer light; the hood’s role is separate, helping with stray light when you’re outside or near a bright window. The EF 24mm f/2.8 and EF 28mm f/2.8 are also named fits, so this is relevant to more than one lens in an existing kit. I’d consider it for street scenes or close-up subjects in bright daylight. It won’t change exposure or make a lens faster, so think of it as a simple aid to shading, not a fix for every lighting problem.
