Caruba Hot Shoe Adapter (Middle Contact to X Contact) | Bridge two contact types

Caruba Hot Shoe Adapter (Middle Contact to X Contact) is an adapter for connecting a middle contact with an X contact. It’s intended for photographers putting together a setup where those two contact types need to meet. The adapter’s role is specific: it bridges that contact difference, rather than changing the camera or flash itself. That makes it relevant when arranging a flash connection around equipment that uses a middle contact at one end and an X contact at the other. It’s also listed as a tripod accessory, so it belongs among the small parts you might need while building out a camera support or lighting setup. The key detail is the contact conversion named in the product: this isn’t a general-purpose adapter for every connection. If your setup calls for these particular contacts, it gives you a direct way to join them.

Specialist Note

Portrait and still-life photographers arranging a flash connection are the people I’d point toward this adapter when their setup calls for a middle contact on one side and an X contact on the other. Those contact types are the reason to choose it: use it as the link between the two ends of that arrangement, rather than trying to treat them as interchangeable. For a flash setup, identify which side uses the middle contact and which uses the X contact, then use the adapter to bridge that specific gap. The honest limitation is that it addresses this contact conversion only; it won’t solve a different kind of connection mismatch. If those are the contacts you need to join, its purpose is refreshingly clear.
