Caruba Rubber Lens Hood 3IN1 77mm
Caruba Rubber Lens Hood 3IN1 77mm | Three-position shading and rubber protection
The defining choice is a rubber hood with three positions, so you can adjust how far it shades the lens for your framing. The Caruba Rubber Lens Hood 3IN1 77mm fits lenses with a 77mm filter size. Its job is straightforward: keep unwanted light from reaching the front of the lens, reducing flare and colour cast. That matters when a strong light source sits just outside your composition, where reflections can wash out colour and contrast. For wide-angle views, the adjustable design is intended to avoid vignetting, so the hood doesn’t intrude on the picture. The rubber construction also provides a buffer around the lens against knocks or accidental drops. It’s a useful accessory for wide landscapes, scenes with bright side light and carrying your camera between locations. The three-position setup brings together shading, wide-angle use and a little extra physical protection in one simple hood.
What it does
- Three adjustable positions: Choose among three hood positions to suit the framing. The adjustment gives you different levels of shading while keeping the hood suited to the picture you’re making.
- 77mm lens fit: This version is for a lens with a matching 77mm filter size. That measurement is the key compatibility detail for choosing the right hood.
- Wide-angle clearance: The three-position design is intended to prevent vignetting in the wide-angle setting. That helps keep the corners of the frame clear when you’re using a broad view.
- Protection from stray light: The hood blocks unwanted light falling on the lens, reducing the chance of lens flare and colour cast. This is particularly helpful when a bright source is close to, but outside, the composition.
- Rubber construction: The flexible material adds a protective edge around the lens. It provides a buffer against knocks and bumps during handling or carrying.
Specialist Note
Changing the hood position is a simple way to alter how much of the lens front is shaded, without adding a rigid accessory to the front. I’d recommend it to anyone using a lens with a 77mm filter size who often works with wide-angle framing: choose a position that shades the lens but stays clear of the corners, so the hood doesn’t appear in the image. It’s also handy for landscapes in strong side light, where keeping stray light off the lens cuts down on flare and washed-out colour. The rubber adds a welcome buffer when you’re packing or handling the lens. Its fit is specific to that filter size, so it won’t suit every lens.
