Cokin NX Series Frame 100x100
Cokin NX Series Frame 100x100 | A frame for square filters
Many filter setups start with choosing the glass; this accessory is the frame part of the equation. The Cokin NX Series Frame 100x100 is a filter accessory for photographers working with the 100x100 format. It’s for anyone building a square-filter setup and wanting the frame identified by both its size and series. That makes it easier to keep your filter choices organised around the format you use, rather than treating the frame as a filter in its own right. For a landscape, for example, you might plan around a 100x100 graduated filter to balance a bright sky with darker land; for a long exposure, a 100x100 neutral-density filter may be the one you select. The frame doesn’t create either effect by itself. Its appeal is more specific: it gives a 100x100 filter setup a dedicated frame component, with the Cokin NX Series name clearly attached.
Specialist Note
Does this Cokin NX Series Frame 100x100 filter the scene itself? No—it’s the frame accessory, so choose the filter for the effect you want. The 100x100 format gives you a clear size to work around when planning a square-filter setup; for a landscape with a bright sky, that could mean selecting a graduated filter in the same format and positioning its transition across the sky and land. For a long exposure, choose a neutral-density filter in 100x100 instead. I’d point this out to anyone who already works with square filters and wants the frame component, rather than another piece of filter glass. The honest limit is simple: on its own, this frame won’t change exposure or balance the sky.
