Its Canon EF mount makes it a fit for a Canon EF setup, and manual focus suits a considered filmmaking workflow where focus is set and adjusted by the operator. Use it for video work that needs varied framing while keeping the same lens on the camera, such as interviews, dialogue scenes or short narrative productions. The broad zoom range is especially useful when moving the camera or swapping lenses would interrupt the setup. It’s a practical option for crews and solo filmmakers who are comfortable taking control of focus and want one lens to cover a range of shot sizes.

First-time cinema-zoom buyers sometimes expect a wide zoom range to make focus effortless; this lens changes framing, but focus remains a manual job.
