Filmsticks Small All Weather Resin Clapper Sticks w/ Grey Scale Laminate

Filmsticks Small All Weather Resin Clapper Sticks w/ Grey Scale Laminate | Mark takes with a visible sync point

For marking a take and giving picture and sound a clear point to sync, clapper sticks put a visible action into the shot: the sticks close, and the resulting clap gives the crew a shared cue. The Filmsticks Small All Weather Resin Clapper Sticks w/ Grey Scale Laminate are small clapper sticks made from resin, with a grey scale laminate. That combination makes this a particular kind of slate: the clapper action marks the take, while the grey scale gives you a reference in the image. It’s suited to film crews and camera operators who want those two cues together while recording. “Small” describes the product, though it doesn’t give a measurement; choose it by the handling and framing you need rather than assuming a particular dimension. The all-weather description also makes it relevant when a shoot takes place outside. In practical terms, this is a focused studio accessory for recording a take with a visual sync cue and a grey-scale reference.

On set

A clapper is useful because the closing action can be seen in the recording and its sound can be heard. During editing, that gives picture and sound a common moment to line up. The grey scale laminate adds a visual reference to the same shot, rather than requiring a separate item for that purpose. It can help make a recorded frame easier to assess for tonal values, though it shouldn’t be treated as a promise of automatic exposure or colour correction. The sticks are described as all weather, so they’re intended for use in changing conditions as well as on a studio set. This is a straightforward tool for crews who want the slate’s take-marking action and grey-scale reference in one product. The name says “small,” but doesn’t specify dimensions, so the practical question is whether that scale suits your framing and handling preferences.
