Formatt Hitech Firecrest 52mm Superslim UV IR Cut
Formatt Hitech Firecrest 52mm Superslim UV IR Cut | Slim UV/IR filtering for a matching lens
Formatt Hitech Firecrest 52mm Superslim UV IR Cut combines a slim-profile design with a stated UV- and infrared-cut purpose. It suits photographers who want that specific filtration without adding a bulkier-looking filter to the front of a lens. The 52mm marking gives you a clear size to compare with the filter-size marking on your lens; match those before buying, as the diameter needs to be right for the filter to fit. It’s worth considering for daylight landscapes, travel scenes or other outdoor photography when UV/IR filtering is what you want. This is a focused filter, not an exposure-control or colour-effect accessory. Choose it for its stated UV/IR-cut role, rather than expecting it to change exposure or create a particular visual effect.
Specialist Note
A common slip with filters is overlooking the size marking while focusing on the filter name. Match the 52mm designation here to the marking on your lens before you buy. The Superslim design keeps the filter profile low, which is handy if you prefer not to add a deeper rim at the front of your setup. For an outdoor landscape or travel scene, use it when UV/IR cut is the filtration you want; it’s a specific-purpose option, not a substitute for a filter that controls exposure or polarization. I’d keep that distinction in mind when choosing what to leave on the lens.
