Formatt Hitech Firecrest 95mm Superslim UV IR Cut
Formatt Hitech Firecrest 95mm Superslim UV IR Cut | UV and IR filtration in a slim profile
The defining choice here is UV and IR filtration: this filter is designed to cut ultraviolet and infrared light before it reaches the camera. That makes it a considered option for photographers who want to manage those wavelengths while working with visible light, rather than add a colour or exposure effect. The Formatt Hitech Firecrest 95mm Superslim UV IR Cut is a lens-front filter for a specific photographic purpose. It may suit landscape and architectural work where you want to control the light entering the lens without changing your framing or composition. Its appeal is in that focused role; it’s not a general-purpose creative filter. If UV and IR control is part of your workflow, this gives you a straightforward way to place that filtration at the front of the lens.
Specialist Note
At a low-lit harbour, with pale sky and water filling the frame, this filter’s UV/IR-cut purpose has a clear place: it lets you manage those wavelengths at the lens while composing the visible-light scene. If your lens takes a 95mm filter, that size is the key detail to match; it isn’t a filter you can move freely between different front sizes. The superslim profile means less depth projecting from the lens front, which is welcome if you prefer a neater setup. I’d consider it for landscape or architectural work where UV/IR control is wanted, rather than as a fix for every colour shift.
