Formatt Hitech Glass 100x100mm Soft Gold 1/8
Formatt Hitech Glass 100x100mm Soft Gold 1/8 | Add gentle golden warmth
In a portrait or still life that feels a little cool, a Soft Gold filter can add warmth at the moment you make the picture. This Formatt Hitech filter is made from glass and measures 100x100mm, with a Gold colour and a 1/8 strength. That subtle grade is suited to photographers who want a gentle golden cast rather than a strongly coloured result. Use it when you want skin tones to feel warmer or a carefully arranged subject to take on a softer, warmer mood. The square format makes it a practical option for photographers already working with 100x100mm filters. Its appeal is straightforward: shape the colour of the light in camera, then judge the effect as you compose. It’s a considered creative filter, rather than a UV filter for everyday lens protection.
Specialist Note
This 1/8 Soft Gold gives a scene a mild golden bias without making warmth the whole story. I’d suggest it for a softly lit portrait or a still life where you want the light to feel a touch more inviting: place the filter in front of the lens and compose for the effect you want, rather than relying on a stronger colour shift. The 100x100mm square format is useful if that size is already part of your filter setup. Its glass construction calls for the same care you’d give any optical surface. It suits photographers who want a restrained colour treatment in camera; if you want a bold golden look, this gentle strength may be too subtle.
