Freewell Hard Stop Variable ND (Threaded) 2-5 Stop Standard Day 67mm
Freewell Hard Stop Variable ND (Threaded) 2-5 Stop Standard Day 67mm | Control exposure in bright daylight
To keep a slower shutter speed for flowing water, or a wider aperture for softer background separation in bright sun, an ND filter reduces the light reaching your lens. The Freewell Hard Stop Variable ND (Threaded) 2-5 Stop Standard Day 67mm offers adjustable light reduction from two to five stops, so you can adapt exposure to the scene without changing your framing or waiting for the light to fade. Its Standard Day designation points to its intended setting: daylight shooting when the scene is too bright for the shutter speed or aperture you want. This filter suits photographers and filmmakers who want to adjust light levels with one variable filter rather than switch between fixed strengths. Set the density to suit the conditions, then choose the shutter speed or aperture that gives you the motion or depth-of-field effect you’re after. It’s a focused tool for exposure control.
Specialist Note
It can be fiddly to judge where a variable filter’s adjustment range ends; the hard stops give you clear endpoints to work within. I’d recommend this to someone who wants to keep a particular shutter speed in daylight, or hold a wider aperture for a portrait outdoors. For flowing water, adjust the filter until the exposure lets you use a slower shutter; for a portrait, reduce the light enough to use the aperture you want. The threaded 67mm fitting is suited to a lens with a matching 67mm filter thread. One practical limit: its adjustment covers two to five stops, so it’s intended for moderate light reduction, not every lighting situation.
